One, yes the site looks different because I accidentally upgraded ComicPress without backing up my settings and extensive customizations. That’s okay, it was badly in need of upgrading anyway. I’m too annoyed to mess with it right now.
Two, as the previous post implied might happen, our artist is now officially out of commission. Holly’s eye injuries have caused her to suffer intense migraines when she draws, and as such she is unable to continue as artist for CttC. Anyone following her blog can get more details.

So, that’s the state of things. Close to the Chest is on indefinite hiatus until another artist can be found. I still have all the character info, undrawn scripts and long-term plans – those aren’t going anywhere.

If you are an artist of at least some skill, can commit to regular updates, and are willing to accept my criticisms and corrections, please contact me at jreinsch(at)gmail(dot)com. Include a few samples of your work if possible. I still want to replace all the older strips, and this story is FAR from over. Hell, it was just getting good.

And no, I’m afraid I cannot pay you yet. All revenue from adbars goes toward site hosting and outgoing advertising.

The next page is actually half-drawn. Unfortunately, our artist is partially out of commission at the moment due to health concerns with her eyes. The curious can click the “Our Blogs” button above and find out details for yourselves. We are currently waiting to hear from both her eye doctors – they are quite busy, so there is a long wait for appointments. Prayers, positive wishes, magic spells and crossed fingers are welcome and appreciated.

I have scripts written for the next plot arc, just waiting for art. As frustrating as it is for you, the reader, it is doubly so for us, having this story we so desperately want to tell and being unable to move forward. We will move forward. It just might take a little while, depending on whether or not eye surgery happens.

Meanwhile, here’s all the comics I read, via google reader:

It will bring the current plot arc to a close and effectively end what I’ve been thinking of as the “Prologue.” It will also be the last page of CttC posted until the new year. We are taking November and December off to focus on other projects, build a strip buffer and enjoy the holidays.

There will still be some updates for you to enjoy. OHC will continue to update thrice weekly. Holly will still be uStreaming her art most weeknights. As promised, I will be working on some extra materials for the site. I have a script for something I’ve been meaning to make for some time and share with you.

CttC will return 1 January 2010.
