ok this is weird… http://egyptology.blogspot.com/2010/06/photo-for-today-deity-henut-mestjet.html a lion-headed goddess with a sun disc and uraeus snake and holding an ankh but the tablet doesn’t name her Sekhmet
10:07 PM
clearly the same deity, but a totally unknown-elsewhere title
10:08 PM
http://henadology.wordpress.com/theology/netjeru/mestjet/ “She bears the epithet ‘Eye of Re‘”
10:08 PM

Abandoned project is abandoned? Nope! She-who-wears-red would never forgive me if I gave up that easily. After the jump, update on the progress of the KemCal.

Dramatis Personae:
Sekhmet – Goddess of vengeance, war and death of the ancient Egyptian pantheon
Me – A humble commoner, sworn to worship Sekhmet

Sekhmet: Hey.
Me: Hm?
Sekhmet <kicks my chair>: HEY.
Me: ACK! Um, yes?

Time to clean out my old drafts! I typed most of this post way back in December. Still relevant. I held back posting it because I wasn’t sure if I really had a message or if I was meandering about the topic. Note to self: turn on safesearch when looking for “overweight wiccans.”

As a son of Sekhmet, people often ask me if I’m going to curse them with Her divine wrath for pissing me off. Okay, that’s a lie. Nobody has asked me that yet. Nobody ever asks me the cool questions. But it’s a great lead-in to what I’m going to talk about.

Now, it’s important to note that not all Pagans do metaphysical work (aka “magic,” or “magick” if you’re a pretentious twat). Likewise, not all metaphysical practitioners (hereafter referred to as “witches”) are necessarily Pagan. I have met Agnostics, Atheists and even a devout Christian who not only believed in but actively practiced metaphysics. In fact, the Christian was the first one who actually identified my, ah, tendency toward psychic vampirism. (More on that later maybe. I’m going was talking about psy-vamps on PCP in February.)

So, I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there, and I’ll tell you how I became comfortable with the idea of the left-hand path.

…at least for now.

Am I the only one who loved that random quote in Chrono Trigger? they retranslated for the DS and it’s different now.

So, we’ve gone over my youth and how I left the Church, we’ve touched upon my Wiccan and Eclectic periods, And I’ve related my recent epiphany at finding Sekhmet standing right behind me the whole time. And I promised to elaborate on Her and what She means to me. This could get long, but bear with me. More »

Alright, I’ve covered my long religious past. Now you all know roughly where I was at the beginning of this year. It’s certainly not where I am now.

To recap, and addendum: As of the beginning of this year, I was an ex-Christian ex-agnostic lapsed Wiccan. I was a lot like those Christians who never go to church and never really sit down to pray but still believe in the Jesus. Nothing wrong with that, but nother really right with it either. More »
