my katamari of knowledge grows!
Check out my sweet favicon.
Anyone with a passion for Egypt/Kemet or historical research, please feel free to sign in and write up the history of a festival or two. It’s a wiki, it’s there for communal knowledge.
Abandoned project is abandoned? Nope! She-who-wears-red would never forgive me if I gave up that easily. After the jump, update on the progress of the KemCal.
Dramatis Personae:
Sekhmet – Goddess of vengeance, war and death of the ancient Egyptian pantheon
Me – A humble commoner, sworn to worship Sekhmet
Sekhmet: Hey.
Me: Hm?
Sekhmet <kicks my chair>: HEY.
Me: ACK! Um, yes?

Okay, so I’ve been working hard on this tonight. My plan is to make some form of interactive Kemetic calendar, so people like me can figure out what the heck days to book off work and get blitzed on food and booze. I’ll be releasing it as freeware, donations and gratuities thankfully accepted
Central to the beliefs of the Kemetic, or ancient Egyptian, people was the concept of Ma’at. Ma’at is a difficult word to translate, but it is usually literally termed as “balance.” Ma’at is the principle that stability and truth are to be preserved, and was the guiding force behind Kemetic law. It was the belief that a person should contribute to the world around him, rather than exploiting it purely for his own benefit. And it is a principle which still applies today.
Ma’at was also a sexy Goddess, as evidenced below.
…at least for now.
Am I the only one who loved that random quote in Chrono Trigger? they retranslated for the DS and it’s different now.
So, we’ve gone over my youth and how I left the Church, we’ve touched upon my Wiccan and Eclectic periods, And I’ve related my recent epiphany at finding Sekhmet standing right behind me the whole time. And I promised to elaborate on Her and what She means to me. This could get long, but bear with me. More »
