CttC #051 - Everybody wants a Piece of the Action
I’m really pleased with how this one turned out. I managed to pare down my pages of dialogue to what you see here, and the artwork is still beautiful.
Pod is lucky Mila isn’t a violent person…
Feline fact of the week: The elasticity of the feline lens capsule is only 5 percent of the one in humans. Rapid change in refractive power of the eye in cats occurs not by changing lens curvature like in primates but by front-to-back movement of the entire lens. This works on the same principle as adjusting an optical zoom on a camera. The lens can move forward by up to 0.6 mm. A cat’s eye still can’t focus as well as a human’s, though.

Though seriously, eyesight and sense of smell are only one side of the coin. What of the good?
Though only partially feline I am sure you have some traits that make up for that, claws? Agility?
Balance? Puffy hair when frightened?
I also have to wonder Mila. If you hate furries, why do you hang out with me? Come to my home? Well aside from Jim now.

While you’re thinking of that, um…could I use the shower? I am sure your sense of smell has been picking me up for a few minutes now.
(I feel so hurt, am I that much of a jerk? I didn’t know that is what she has been going through; I thought they were like mine!)
Sorry for responding to the comic as the character, but considering you based him off of me, I really could not figure out how to respond without doing so.

check the newspost for #5. it was decided that the first 4 were bad and wrong and could not be salvaged. Well, they could, but it would have required a lot of reader trust and looked bad for the next year.

Wait. That’s a costume he’s wearing? I thought he was really that way. I need to go back to the first comic and re-read all of these again. I feel for her and all the troubles she’s had, but there are probably a lot of good things about her “abnormality” that she’s just not accepting. I hope that she will come to terms and be happy with herself in the future.

Okay, I re-read the entire strip and didn’t see anything that showed Pod isn’t what he appears to be. Also, I have seen some serious growing in your artwork, the comedy, and along with chcarcter growth. I look forward to years to come of this comic growing you too.

You are right it was in the first 4 comics that they took out. I Think that the first 4 where not that bad and it added to the comic and should not have been removed. But hey it is your comic and your choice.

The first 4 comics were non-canon (out of character) introductions. This is the first canonical reference to Pod’s nature. One of the next few pages will explain this more fully.

I think that you might have a point there James. I like staying in character but I also think it is about the development of the characters. If in the next few pages you explain that Pod is wearing a suit and what type of eyes face dexterous suit then that will be great. I really thought that he was a shifter of some sort because of his facial control and because Mila has cat ears and tail that this might be just normal for this world.
I think it would be cool to have a character page telling who each are and their quirks. Help clear some things up for us out of the loop. If you prefer to explain in comic then that is great as well.

Here is where the negotiating begins. You say you can’t do two comics daily. Well how about one comic a day. I dont want you to get sloppy in your art trying to bust out 2 a day. I understand I would feel your pain but I cant.
Now you make a second offer or agree *jedi mind trick* “Agree James and Holly”.
