Portfolio Update!
June 9th, 2008
So… apparently we have nay-sayers who seem to think that art is beyond my skills… Allow me to set the record straight… I have been doing the art thing for 10 years, won awards, sold pieces, the whole bit… Weekly comics are fairly new to me, I am still adjusting to having a deadline for something… so I dont always get to spend the hours upon hours on a strip that I would like to… Or I got distracted and played Rockband or Overlord for way more time than I should have… Anyways… I offer proof to my artistic awesome!

I actually plan to play more with shading using the tablet… I actually love this piece… it came out a lot better than I had hoped for…
Watch for awesome on Friday!

That’s better, but the head is still too small, the arms are way too long, and the legs look like she suffers from elephantiasis. You might also do well to move away from the animu style and move towards something that’s more your own.
Like I said before, your art has potential. You just need to work on it. If you’re serious about doing a comic then you should invest the time to make it worth looking at. We all get distracted by real life at times, but that’s not an excuse to put out subpar work that makes you look bad.

Seriously… dont rip apart MY work unless you are fucking Da Vinci or at least on his level… Every one has a different style and way of doing things… and I have seen people with way less art skill have HUGE comics… so seriously, pony up better work, or shut the hell up..

Attacking the messenger doesn’t change the quality of your work.
Blatant disregard for anatomy and proportions is not an artistic style. You have to follow the rules before you can break them. Breaking them out of ignorance doesn’t count.
Perhaps other people have gotten popular with bad artwork. I can’t think of any off the top of my head, but admitting that you’re okay with crappy art as long as it’s popular isn’t a very good attitude.
And you don’t need to see my work, if any exists, to see that yours just isn’t up to par. I was trying to be nice with the pointers, but if this is the way you take any criticism that isn’t overwhelming praise for your shitty art and shitty writing then you’re in for a world of hurt. Especially since you’re taking out advertising and inviting people to comment on this steaming pile.

Really dont get mad at Chaz for trying to help you, there is no need to get mad at him for trying to help you.

By the way, ellipses shouldn’t be used where a comma or period would suffice.

First of all, I don’t want to start a flame war, because I can’t invest the necessary time to kick your ass beyond awesome-ness.
But..
Chaz - I have known Holly for over 8 years, and she has always drawn “anime-style.” Maybe you shouldn’t tell people how to draw what they draw best, mmm? And maybe you’ve also never been to an art class, where they show you how to draw in proportion, and the arms are *always* longer than you think. When they’re down at your sides, they’re supposed to hit halfway between your knees and thighs.
Love this comic! Keep it up! Shun the non-believers! SHUNNNN!
